Hello friends,
I hope this message finds you as well as possible, given the difficult state of our country. I’m focusing on staying calm and connecting with my community in an effort to prepare myself for whatever difficulty may come. I hope you are finding connection with your communities and loved ones, as well, to help make it through this challenging time.
Jess T. Dugan: I want you to know my story is on view at The Ringling Museum in Sarasota, FL through February 22, 2025.
Due to recent weather, my conversation with curator Christopher Jones has been rescheduled for Friday, February 7 at 11 am. More information is available here.
This exhibition was profiled in “A New Show at The Ringling Features Jess T. Dugan’s Striking, Intimate Photo Portraits” in Sarasota Magazine.
Diaries of Home, which features works by women and nonbinary artists who explore the multilayered concepts of family, community, and home, opens on November 17 at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Work from Family Pictures is included alongside Patty Chang, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Nan Goldin, Debbie Grossman, Letitia Huckaby, Deana Lawson, Laura Letinsky, Sally Mann, Arlene Mejorado, Catherine Opie, Laurie Simmons, and Carrie Mae Weems.
On Friday, November 15 at 6 pm I’ll be participating in Artists Speak, an in-gallery discussion about the work on view.
I was recently featured in “Which Artists Are Everywhere in U.S. Museums? I Sifted Through Hundreds of Shows to Find Out” on artnet, along with Marie Watt, Suchitra Mattai, Theaster Gates, and Justin Favela.
Recent acquisitions include The Getty Museum, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and The Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University. I am grateful to the curators who continue to embrace and support my work.
Artists, save the date: I will be teaching a one-day virtual professional practices workshop on Saturday, February 15 through the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA. Registration will open in the coming weeks (follow the FAWC to be notified!), and spots are limited.
Thank you, as always, for following along.
In solidarity,
Jess
